The Zodiax are a group of 13+1 individual races with a common ancestor. A "Zodiac race" refers to a single race, while the term Zodiax refers to the whole spectrum.
The "+1" race is the progenitor race known as the Zodi. The Zodi spread across the 13 (or more?) different planets in the universe and over time they evolved/devolved into the minor races. There may be Zodi still.
